Eliason Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is your lead time?

A: Lead time varies per product. Please contact Customer Service for specific product lead times and for rush shipments.

Q: Do you supply hardware?

A: Yes, Eliason doors are supplied with hardware (For Fiber-Flex products, hardware preparations can be either reinforced only, prep by templates or prep and install. However, virtually all builders' hardware is compatible with the Fiber-Flex door. For specific out of the ordinary items check with the factory).

Q: I need to replace my existing door, what measurements do I need to take to ensure a proper fit?

A: Always measure the opening and not the door (finished opening width x finished opening height). Measure the height of your opening at each side. Measure the width of the opening at the top, middle and bottom to make sure that the opening width is consistent. For a single panel opening, choose a left or right side hinge from the front of the door (the side of the door the customers will see).

Q: Do you offer replacement parts?

A: Yes, please contact the factory for part numbers and pricing.

Q: How can I get pricing on a door?

A: You can submit a "Request a Quote" form for the particular model you are interested in. Or feel free to call and speak with an Eliason Customer Service representative at 800.828.3655 for assistance.

Q: What is the purpose of an impact door?

A: Impact doors are a simple, cost-effective way to provide quick, efficient movement through any opening. They provide a visual, sound and/or environmental barrier for many different applications.

Q: Does a warranty come with all Eliason products?

A: Eliason Corporation expressly warrants that its products are free of defect in material and workmanship. We will replace (exclusive of freight and labor) any parts proven defective within a period of two years from date of shipment to the purchaser. Contact Eliason for authority to return the defective part. The new replacement will be invoiced and shipped from the Eliason plant as soon as possible. Upon return of the defective party, appropriate credit will be issued. Eliason's Warranty

Q: Do you offer custom colors?

A: Certain models can be manufactured with custom colors. Please contact our factory for exact color match.

Q: How does the Fiber-Flex price compare to Hollow Metal Steel Doors?

A: Price is about 3 times that of steel. However the labor savings over time with virtually no maintenance or costly replacements of the corroded steel products make Fiber-Flex the door of choice.

Q: How are doors and frames quoted?

A: Doors are quoted using nominal sizes. Actual doors are fabricated to exact order sizes using the frame openings, hardware clearances and specific engineering requirements. Frames are quoted based on the lineal footage of the framing sections and assembly joints.

Q: Can the hinge pattern of existing frames be matched for the Fiber-Flex product?

A: Yes, our Fiber-Flex doors are machine to custom locations and hinge sizes as required.

Q: Are Fiber-Flex doors suitable for exterior applications?

A: Yes, from Alaska to Puerto Rico. However, we do recommend lighter colors for exterior applications when the Hexpin or Pebble Grain finish is desired.

Q: Are labels available on the Fiber-Flex product to meet fire ratings?

A: The Fiber-Flex FRP-PBG-LBL fire-rated doors are available as singles or pairs up to 4'-0" x 8'-0" per door leaf. Doors are 1 3/4" thick. Fire rated to 1-1/2 hour. Tested for positive pressure, hose stream and 250 degree temperature rise.

Q: Can your fiberglass doors be painted?

A: Yes, our fiberglass doors can be painted. Painted materials for aluminum or FRP should be mentioned at time of quote request. Please note that painted materials and FRP color scan vary slightly from lot to lot.

Q: How often is Fiber-Flex tested with GreenGuard?

A: Fiber-Flex is tested quarterly to ensure air quality emissions are safe for children, schools and other institutions.

Q: Does FRP hold up to extreme temperatures and variations?

A: Yes, fiberglass is very stable in extreme temperatures. Variations in temperature from one side of the door to the other can create thermal bowing as recognized by the Door and Hardware Institute as inherent in all materials. However, fiberglass has a history of excellent performance in these environments.

Q: How does the FRP Pebble Grain and Hexpin materials hold up against UV rays for fading?

A: Our FRP Pebble Grain and Hexpin materials are constructed from premium greenhouse resin that is acrylically modified in its backbone. They are pigmented throughout and are produced with tough resin rich surface, providing many years of service. Built to last as long as the life of the door, environmental factors should still be taken into consideration.

Q: What protective finish is on the wood grain FRP material to protect against scratching?

A: A base coat of a single component pigmented product is applied, followed by an acrylic glaze, which is lastly followed by 3 coats of a clear finish. This top clear finish is an exterior grade acrylic product with UV absorbers. The door will not "fade" like other typical solvent borne finishes, but will only lose some depth of color, as seen with any finished item that is in sustained UV exposure. These additional layers of clear finish will help aid in protection of the door panel.
